Comera Pay, part of Abu Dhabi’s Royal Group and licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE, has secured principal membership with Visa, enabling it to directly issue Visa prepaid and debit cards in the UAE.
Visa membership
The principal membership allows Comera Pay to roll out Visa prepaid and debit cards without relying on intermediary banks. The company said the approval will support the launch of a multicurrency product, allowing customers to make both local and international transactions.
Users will be able to choose from several Visa card tiers, including Classic, Platinum, and Infinite, each offering different levels of benefits and services. The Visa Classic card is designed for everyday spending, while the Platinum card provides added lifestyle features and premium services. The Visa Infinite card offers enhanced rewards, higher spending limits, and global privileges.
By integrating its digital wallet with Visa’s global payments network, Comera Pay aims to deliver faster settlement times, secure transactions, and seamless multi-currency usage.
The company said the move supports the UAE’s digital transformation goals and efforts to reduce cash usage, while expanding consumer choice in digital financial services. The multicurrency offering is expected to launch soon.
